Physical computing in Musical Theatre Instructors

Ali Momeni (Artist, Assistant Professor, University of Minnesota) was born in Isfahan, Iran and emigrated to the United States at the age of twelve. He studied composition, improvisation and performance with computers at the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies in UC Berkeley.
Momeni is interested in interactivity in the arts, technologically mediated social interaction, gesture to sound/image mappings, and data-driven search and synthesis techniques. He also remains interested and active in improvisation, musical theater and instrument building. He currently holds an assistant professorship in the Department of Art and the Interdisciplinary Program for Collaborative Arts (IPCA) at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.alimomeni.net
David Bithell (Assistant Professor of Composition Studies at the University of North Texas) is devoted to the exploration of the intersection between experimental music and theater. His use of live performance, video, staging, music technology, and improvisation create abstract narratives that balance between the tragic and comic.www.davidbithell.com/
Ali Momeni presents during Almost Cinema two installations: ‘Time is Now’ and ‘Smoke and Hot Air’. He takes part in the Mutating Media Symposium a together with David Bithell he performs ‘The liminal surface’, a musical performance.
These workshops are open for all HISK Candidates/Laureates and KASK students. Seats are limited.
