Audio Editing with open source software
February 24th - 26th
This workshop is directed to anyone using computers for sound art, electroacoustic music or any other digital music/sound creation. It will give the participants a walk through some of the available Open Source options for digital music and audio production and how they can be combined to achieve a highly productive environment. It will cover aspects such as recording, editing, mixing, mastering, applying effects, among others.
More on using free and open source tools (FLOSS).
We will specifically be using Ardour, an authoring studio available for Mac OsX and linux.
The workshop will be taught by Lieven Moors. Lieven Moors lives in Brussels and used to be the guitarist and composer in Belgium outfit Das Pop. Nowadays he performs as a solo musician and traded his guitar for a computer running the GNU/ Linux operating system and numerous audio and midi programs. He is an autodidact and strong believer of the Open Source spirit wanting to share and pass on the skills, knowledge and experiences he collected over the past years.
Requirements:
Bring a headphone and a Mac computer. If you don't have one let us know in advance.
If you have audio recording equipment please bring it.
The workshop takes place in the auditorium at the Hisk, February 24/25/26, from 10:00 until 17:00
